Soccer is done…. now it’s full-swing baseball/softball

One season is coming to an end.  Madison finished her spring soccer season Saturday.  They went 6-0 and learned a lot and had a lot of fun.  Here are some pics.

Baseball and softball is in full swing.  Three games still coming up this week (as long as the weather doesn’t get bad).  Ethan’s team is 2-1, while Madison’s is 2-0 so far.  I’m having fun watching them.

One of those weeks

I’ve had one of those weeks where you sort of wish you could just rewind your DVR and start over.  And actually, a DVR does sort of play into the equation.  Part of my week involves something I’d rather not get into specifics on here, actually I don’t even want to get into generalities here either.  So we’ll just leave that alone for now!

Other than the unmentioned above, it’s just been a bunch of little things gone wrong that make me want to start over.  I’ve been late for work the last 2 days, once just b/c I overslept and today I had the heavy rain during a Columbus rush hour to blame.  I’m sure one of my bosses will become aware of this soon.

My biggest problem so far this week has been at church.  I was supposed to go in there last night and record a broadcast from CCN on Creating Innovative Outreach Events.  This is where that DVR comes into play: We don’t have one.  We need one!  I hooked up a VCR to our satellite to record the program.. I put in the tape.. it goes in most of the way but not all the way.. I try to pull it out.. it rips the tape in 2.  Great!  I try another VCR and get the same results.  I nearly threw 2 VCR’s through the window, but somehow I managed to keep the window intact.  The program did not get recorded.  I had to apologize to our Associate Pastor about not getting it recorded.  I hope he’s ok with that.  He was going to show it to a group this morning but I hope he had a backup plan.  Now I’m determined to get a DVR so I don’t have to deal with a VCR tape ever again.

I’ll move on and things will get better.  I think God wants to make sure that I’m counting on Him to reign in my life as opposed to living life by my terms.  God is constant even though my life looks more like the twists, turns, and loops at Cedar Point.

Watching TV is overrated

I’ve spent more than a week since I decided to severely limit my TV time.  It’s done me a lot of good, and it’s made me realize how much time can be wasted sitting around doing nothing.  I watched a little extra over the weekend, but hey it’s still basketball season.  I’m interested in seeing how well I can do during March Madness.  Maybe I just won’t watch anything but basketball when the tournament starts (except for ‘24′).

Name change

I’m changing the name of this blog.  I really wasn’t using it for the church media thing so it was useless with that title.  I do have some thoughts I wanted to share from time to time so I thought I’d just make it more or less a general blog.

Anyway, here’s my thoughts as of today February 27, 2007.

I’m so out of shape I’m tired of it.  It’s time to start getting some exercise.  Maybe just start walking every night for 30 minutes.  At least that would be a start.  Still have to walk thru some snow though.

I’m watching entirely too much TV and I don’t think I’m getting enough done because of it.  I feel like I’ve gotten lazy.  I’ve been thinking the last couple days that I need to do something about it and even as recently as last night I wasn’t willing to do anything about it.  But sitting at work today I’ve decided it’s time.  I’m going to limit myself to 1 hour of TV per day; that’s right, 1 hour.  7 hours per week.  If I want to watch a basketball game, I have to give up TV entirely for another day.  I plan to use this time doing something constructive, whether it’s working on stuff for church, getting exercise, doing stuff with the kids, whatever.  I’m just not going to let myself sit around and do nothing.

Welcome to my blog!

Well, I’ve decided to start my own blog. I just returned from the ChurchMedia.net conference and was convinved by Paul Clifford during the Blogging/Podcasting class to start this on my own. I’m not sure yet exactly what I’ll put on here, but I’m leaning toward making either this or another blog to have information on our media team at church. Hopefully it can be used to keep people up-to-date on information and happening, or just to inspire them and encourage them.

I’m hoping this will be a fun and rewarding experience!
